Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ’s

It is highly likely to be a blockage, yes. Especially in leafy areas, tree roots are a real problem when it comes to underground drainage. You need a licensed plumber to come out and use a CCTV drain camera so that they can pinpoint the location and understand the extent of the problem. Prevention is better than cure and this could definitely save you money. No one wants a burst pipe and/or sewerage flooding! Read more in our blog.

Drains can become blocked due to a variety of reasons, such as the accumulation of debris, grease, or foreign objects in the pipe, tree root intrusion, or a damaged pipe.
You can try using a plunger to create suction and dislodge the blockage, pouring boiling water down the drain to break up grease or organic matter, or using a mixture of baking soda and vinegar followed by hot water to dissolve blockages. However, for persistent or severe blockages, it’s advisable to seek professional help.

Unless you are a plumber, it isn’t advisable. You won’t have the equipment or the expertise to find the blockage let alone fix it, and it could also be dangerous. See below to understand what’s involved, plus you can read more in our FREE E-BOOK: Plumbing 101.

Regularly maintain your drains by avoiding disposing of grease, oil, or food waste down the sink, using drain guards to catch debris, and being cautious with what you flush down the toilet. Additionally, regular professional inspections and maintenance can help identify and prevent potential blockages.

As soon as you hear that gurgling sound you know you have a problem and if it’s not urgent now, eventually it will be if you don’t fix it. It is far cheaper to clear or replace pipes than to deal with an emergency, such as sewerage flooding on a Saturday night! And yes, it can and does happen. Read our blog

Fixing Drain Systems

The process begins with the evaluation of the drain system to identify the problem. This evaluation is done using our state-of-the-art inspection CCTV Drain Camera equipment.

Once we have completed the evaluation, we then employ appropriate remedy methods such as drain snakes and chemical cleaners to clear the blocked drain, but our most effective method would be High-Pressure Jetting.

If the problem persists we would need to replace or repair the broken or damaged pipes via the excavation of the broken drain system. Drain Relining could potentially be implemented to avoid excavation.

Once we have completed the excavation process we would also adjust the slope and alignment of the pipes to ensure that they have proper drainage and flow. A thorough inspection and test of the drain system would be carried out after completion.

We would then recommend implementing regular maintenance practices like cleaning, inspections, and timely repairs to prevent future problems.

Installing Drain Systems

The process typically begins with the excavation of the desired location for the drain system.

Once the trenches are prepared, the drain pipes which are usually made of PVC or other suitable materials are laid in the trenches according to the planned layout. The pipes are then carefully aligned and sloped to ensure proper drainage flow.

After the pipes are installed, they are appropriately covered with a layer of gravel or aggregate material to facilitate drainage and prevent pipe movement.

Finally, the trenches are backfilled and compacted to restore the ground surface to its original state. You wouldn’t even know we had been there!

We have plenty of happy and satisfied customers all around Sydney and in our local community areas, including Wahroonga, Hornsby, Mt Colah, Mt Kuringai, Berowra, Wahroonga, Waitara, Turramurra, Pymble, Thornleigh, Normanhurst and St Ives.
